I've been so excited to post about this photo shoot, keeping it quiet has been so hard! Still keeping the final images under wraps is quite hard too, but sharing a "behind the scenes" post is helping tide temptation of sharing the final images everywhere.
Back in the early days of December, we made our way to the beautiful wedding venue, Soughton Hall, I'm not kidding when I say this location took my breath away when I saw the refurbishment. Rewind to the day I met Annie from Soughton Hall to discuss the photo shoot. It was in the Autumn, I was driving up the long driveway and autumn leaves were blowing in the wind in front of Soughton Hall and it looked so atmospheric.
Many moons ago when I used to assist local wedding photographers, I saw Soughton Hall for the first time when I was assisting for a vow renewal, and thought it was a lovely location for a wedding, but when I saw it again after the refurbishment, I was blown away by how much it had changed and how beautiful it looked. Still keeping its elements of tradition, yet has some modern charms in the interior. An ideal location for any couple tying the knot! Plus the colour scheme is blue, so naturally I was completely drawn to it.
I've been sharing a couple of photo's from this shoot on Facebook, but couldn't wait much longer to write a blog post about photographing the lovely Donna Jones' work. We photographed aprons, tote bags, cards and cushions in Homewood Bound and the Sugarplum Tearooms. I love going into Homewood Bound and the Sugarplum Tearooms, so photographing such pretty products in this location was a delight! We played with colours, props and made a kitchen scenery in the shop come to life. It was a fun day working with Donna Jones and Hazel, owner of the thriving shop and busy tearooms, and we were constantly bouncing ideas off each other.
What a day. I am so excited to release the final photo’s from my styled bridal photo shoot, it was such a great way to get to know fellow entrepreneurs in Wales and work together to make this photo shoot come to life.
Rewind to December 2015, I was reflecting on the year, and thinking of new ways I can work with like minded creatives in the area, and how to make my business grow. The focus of this photo shoot was to work with businesses in Wales, I was expecting to keep it fairly local. I was wrong, I had entrepreneurs from the small town of Ruthin, all the way to Cardiff involved in this photo shoot. I was ecstatic, I was planning something where businesses all over this little country were getting involved! I have lived in Wales, grown up in Wales, I even attended University in Wales, nowhere else feels more like home to me. Using a Welsh landscape for the backdrop of this photo shoot felt right, we headed to Bod Petryal, a peaceful location with a small lake and forestry. The theme of this styled bridal photo shoot had hints of bohemia, adventure, and festival themes (pretty bunting, a VW camper van and floral headdresses were involved).
Fast forward to March, I finally had this photo shoot planned and it was the day of the shoot. We got Helena ready at Tommy’s Hair Salon where the girls started to work their magic. The curls were just the tip of the iceberg, what hairstyles came next were beautiful.
