Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of working with the talented Cara Slater MUA and the lovely Helena on a test shoot. This was a spontaneous photo shoot, it was organised in a week. I usually like to put a lot of planning into a shoot and have a clear idea of what I want to achieve weeks before the photo shoot. The only thing I knew is that I wanted to do a shoot with the floral headdress paired with the green dress, work with Cara Slater, and I wanted to shoot on location in a slightly barren but beautiful area. I was scratching my head in wonder of where to do this photo shoot. Everywhere I thought of would be too far or not quite right. And I had this eureka moment a couple of days beforehand.

Now I look back on these photographs, I’m reminded of my final major project I created for my degree. My project was called “The Valar” in which I portrayed a group of characters from J.R.R Tolkien’s The Silmarillion, where I used modern styling and dramatic landscapes to make it all come together. This project was basically a mixture of all things I love, shooting on location and portraying a story within my images. A lot of my work is heavily influenced by literature, and I enjoy telling a story with my photography.

It was great to just put together a test shoot the week before and to keep shooting. Although I like to have things organised, I also love planning a photo shoot the week before and receiving messages/emails like “Hey, fancy doing a shoot next week?” Heck yes I do! I like to keep myself busy and keep practicing, even if I have no project lined up, I like to plan shoots and experiment when I can.

So I hope you like these photos, we had a lot of fun on this blustery and sunny day.
